Subpar performance and features on…

Nope subpar performance and features on these home security cameras compared to the competition in this price range. I purchased a complete Lorex system of 5 cameras, floodlight and doorbell as I knew the Lirex name in home security. I have been usingbthe system 9 months so I xan speak from actual product knowledge. Disappointing.

This company is a shame

This company is a shame. I paid 520$ to have a security kit camera and only one month after my purchase, one of the camera doesn’t work. I call the customer service to use the warranty and the guy who answers is utterly inefficient. He doesn’t care about the customer, doesn’t care about your problem and doesn’t problem any solution. I’ve called 10 times and spent 45 minutes on the phone every time. The always opened a ticket for my problem but when I hang on the phone, I receive an email because my case is closed and solved!!!! Nothing happed. What a shame. Stay away from Lorex

Cookie cutter equipment and lazy engineering

Honestly between 2 and 3 stars, If I gave it a word it would be fair not OK. To be fair the equipment is hardy and somewhat poorly designed. The picture is good, no question the only saving grace.
I have had this system for several months at my parents house, A thousand miles away and have been disappointed more than a few times. Some issues I have can't be fixed it is just the way the system is.
1. I specifically asked if the system ran on it's own proprietary network or did it run on my wireless network. I was told it ran on its own network and only needed my network for the internet. This is not true. The locations where I wanted some cameras don't have wifi. I upgraded a mesh wifi system and that allowed for flexibility with camera locations.
2. I asked if the base station could be mounted on the wall. I was told yes, that is also untrue. Even if you try to mount to the wall the power plug keeps it from the wall. I wanted to mount this on the wall leading to the front door before they get to the door. Do I want to put a table in the hall for them to trip over just for this thing. I think not.
3.At first the system was often offline. The upgraded wireless helped with that.
4.The base unit does not have a battery. If you try to take it from room to room. It has to reboot, just lazy engineering trying to save a dollar.
5.The tech support in not based in America. The people that answer the phone have no training on the system and just read the answer to whatever question you have. Heaven help you if you have a follow up question. The girls are nice but not trained.
6. Very limited choices for cameras and poor functionality. PTZ and variable focus very limited, no facial recognition to tell if it is a butterfly or a person. Just cookie cutter equipment.
7. When people ring the door bell I have never been able to talk to them through the doorbell before one of my parents get to the door. The system is just that slow. My parents are trusting to a fault. They will come to the door to see who it is, at that point it is to late. I'm working on that. Again that is why I wanted the screen on the wall.
8.The spotlight camera does not have a sensitivity setting for the spotlight. The light comes on from the slightest movement. The street is 35 ft away from the light and it will pick up cars then the light comes on. It will come on when the neighbors across the street turn into their driveway. When the light comes that triggers the camera to come on. When my parents see the light come on, they think someone is outside. The other light over the garage can be adjusted and does not do this, lazy engineering.
9.My biggest problem and why you should not buy this system is the operation and functionality of the cameras and the app. The app is the like for me to monitor my parents house. The app has Motion Detection Settings where you can set the area and sensitivity when the cameras will record. This system is tragedy worthy of Shakespeare or Aeschylus. Even though I have it on the lowest possible setting. It still catches things it shouldn't and does not catch things it should. I watch the camera recordings around my parents house. 90% are recordings of nothing or a bug. It is such a waste of time. Sometimes it won't pickup movement when it should. Workers backed a trailer into the yard all the way to the porch. The doorbell camera only caught them when they got out of the truck not the trailer moving across the yard. During play back there is not a 2X or 4X speed to zip past all the nothing it records, Again lazy engineering.

Be careful ordering from this company, you may just loose your money

We placed an order with Lorex UK but have never received the delivery and were told to speak to our bank if we wanted our money back. Shocking customer support, and not a response I'd expect.

We queried the status of the shipment and were told that it had been delivered. When we said that it hadn't and asked them to investigate they came back with a photo of a nondescript package, with an illegible shipping lable and an unidentifiable location, and said that it was evidence that it had been delivered.

The delivery address is a security guarded site with 24/7 access and a central stores that received 100's deliveries each day, and not a location that is easily mistaken, or anything like the photo provided.

Lorex have said that they will do nothing about it, and to take the matter up with our bank if we want to try and get our money back.

The situation is further suspect in that we received a shipment notification claiming it was coming via Royal Mail with a tracking number that didn't work, and when they said they escalated it to their headquarters and couriers, they stated an entirely different courier.

Appalling service, and I'd be very wary of spending money with them again.

Update 9/15 - still unresolved! ZERO Customer Service! HORRIBLE!

Need a security system for you home? Take my advice, DO NOT PURCHASE Lorex Technology. Their customer service is BEYOND un-helpful. They are not concerned about doing what is right for the customer.

This was a first purchase for me with security cameras. I called to speak to someone about what my needs were. The customer service agent built my cart for me and I was able to purchase.

Well, turns out, the cart was built with incorrect products, and now Lorex Technology will not accept a return on my current system (b/c its beyond 30 days) in order for me to EXCHANGE/PURCHASE what I actually do need!

Their response "So Sorry, your beyond the 30 day return window". That's it! No thought given to a resolution that would make the customer happy and keep their revenue in the positive! Zero common sense, even when escalated to supervisors.

I'm out $500 and still don't have a security system!!!!!!! Ridiculous!

DO NOT BUY Lorex Technology products!

Perhaps a competitor would be interested in showing me what #bestinclass #customerservice looks like? I'd much rather promote great experiences! Arlo Smart Home?


Good news: Lorex replied to my review here on Trustpilot.

BAD NEWS: Lorax told me to email them for a quick resolution, which I’ve done TWICE now, and I’ve gotten NO REPLY FROM THEM!
Perhaps it’s time to contact the BBB and share this review on my social channels?

Not good.

We purchased the 2k wire-free battery operated system with the doorbell and an added on an extra camera. Purchased 5/21/2021. Total for the system was $649.98. We will not be keeping this system. Not only was the customer service terrible when we were trying to set up, but these cameras are terrible. We tried setting up the zones for the cameras so that the cameras would exclude the street (and cars going by). Support was no help and we set up exactly as we were supposed to. Still went off every time a car drove by even though THE STREET WAS EXCLUDED from the camera grid. So, that camera is useless with the false hits (all day, every day). We have not been able to get that camera to work properly in the one year we have had it. Overall, all the cameras take a very long time to focus and the night vision takes a long time to come on. 5-10 seconds into the recorded events, the camera still hasn’t focused and the night vision (at night) has barely turned on. A camera is not functional if they don’t focus until the person is almost left the view of the camera. Bottom line, these cameras are basically useless for us. We’ll be tossing this system and replacing with a better one. This was a very expensive lesson.

Their CUSTOMER SERVICE sucks weenies!

They have a terrible software system and their customer support has absolutely is the dumbest set of losers!

You have to be an IT rockstar to be able to manage, install and maintain the system. They have tons of "false triggers" on the detection systems and their support is ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS

Dead System after Warranty

The system is dead, I wish I could refund this product. Purchased in 2019 - these products don't last.

Long-standing customer purchased over 4 different systems for my businesses. This one will probably be my last.

Expensively Cheap Products w/ Horrible Support

My NVR cannot seem to handle the 8 cameras they sold it with. Constantly freezing. Now one of my cameras has moisture on the inside of the lens. For 1200 dollars you would think they could at least be assembled water tight considering outdoor usually means rain.
